Golden Girls Pop-Up Camp
Date: May 16th, 10:00am-8:30pm
Location: Mckinney, TX (address to be disclosed to participants)
Picture this…
A one-day crafting escape tucked inside a charming historic neighborhood in McKinney. A little nostalgia. A lot of laughter. And just the right amount of sass.
Our very first Common Thread Pop-Up Camp is a Golden Girls–themed traditional grandma camp — designed for women who love creativity, community, and a touch of vintage flair.
We’re bringing the cozy back.
At our Golden Girls Camp, you’ll find:
All supplies provided
Comfort-food casseroles + sweet treats + tasty tid-bits
Tea and sangria flowing freely
A room full of women ready to create and connect
A nostalgic book exchange (bring your own favorite read or cookbook for a white elephant style book swap)
Bingo (competitive energy encouraged)
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Needlepoint 101: In this beginner-friendly class (2 hours) you’ll learn the basics of needlepoint while creating a cheeky, Golden Girls–inspired luggage tag, coaster or bookmark. It’s slow crafting at its finest—equal parts relaxing, nostalgic, and just a little bit sassy.
Polymer Clay Earrings: Bold, colorful, and unapologetically extra—just like Blanche. Design and sculpt your own statement earrings using polymer clay, then bake and assemble your wearable art. Expect playful shapes, vintage-inspired palettes, and pieces that spark conversation.
Mosaic Bath/Serving Tray: Create your own spa-worthy bath or serving tray with a mosaic twist. Using glass tiles, mosaic pieces and vintage plates, you’ll design a one-of-a-kind piece that turns any bath into a Golden Girls–level self-care moment (wine and cheesecake encouraged).
Vintage Teacup Bird Feeder: A nod to Dorothy’s wit and timeless charm—this whimsical craft turns vintage teacups into functional garden decor. You’ll assemble and style your own hanging bird feeder that’s equal parts delicate and delightful.
Fabric Photo Album or Recipe Book: A heartfelt, keepsake-worthy project inspired by shared stories and passed-down traditions. Using fabric, trims, and embellishments, you’ll create a custom album or recipe book—perfect for collecting memories, favorite dishes, or a few “Picture it…” moments.
Vintage Candy Dish Candles: Turn a classic candy dish into a glowing centerpiece. You’ll pour your own candle into a vintage-style dish, blending nostalgic charm with modern flair. It’s the perfect mix of function and décor—ideal for hosting your own Golden Girls night.
It’s traditional grandma camp — reimagined.
We’re celebrating the women who taught us to sew and stir and serve… and the women we’re becoming now: bold, creative, community-driven, and just a little bit dramatic in the best way.
As Sophia would say — picture it.
